Privacy Policy

Last updated: 30 September 2026

This policy explains what information Ugly Christmas Sweater Store (“we”, “us”) collects when you use uglychristmassweater.store, why, and what choices you have. We have tried to keep it short and plain. If anything is unclear, get in touch.

The short version

  • We don’t sell anything directly, so we never take payment details or delivery addresses.
  • You don’t need an account to use the site, and you can’t create one.
  • If you use the contact form, we keep your name, email and message so we can reply.
  • When you click through to a retailer such as Amazon, that retailer’s own privacy policy applies from then on.
  • We use, or may use, Google AdSense to show adverts, which uses cookies – more on that below.

Information we collect

When you contact us

If you send us a message through our contact form, we collect your name, email address, the topic you choose and your message. We use this only to reply to you and to keep a record of the conversation. We keep messages for up to two years, then delete them, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.

Server logs

Like almost every website, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when pages are requested – such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. This is used to keep the site running and secure, and to investigate problems or abuse.

Search

When you use the search box, your search terms are sent to our own server to find matching sweaters. We don’t link searches to you.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We use as few as we can:

  • A technical session cookie (PHPSESSID) set by the software that manages our product catalogue. It holds no personal information and is deleted when you close your browser.
  • Advertising cookies from Google and its partners, where adverts are shown – see the next section.

We don’t currently use analytics or tracking cookies of our own. If that changes, we will update this page.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

We use, or may use, Google AdSense to show adverts on this site. When we do:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve adverts based on your previous visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve adverts to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.
  • More detail is in Google’s explanation of how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Where the law requires your consent before advertising cookies are used (for example if you are in the UK or European Economic Area), you will be asked first and can refuse.

Affiliate links and retailers

Our “Buy on Amazon” and “View Deal” buttons are affiliate links. When you click one, you leave this site and the retailer (for example Amazon, or a retailer in the Awin network) may set its own cookies so it can tell that you came from us and pay us a commission if you buy. We don’t receive your name, address or payment details from them – only anonymous totals of clicks and sales. Their handling of your data is governed by their own privacy policies. See our affiliate disclosure for how commissions work.

Content loaded from other services

To show the site properly, your browser loads some things directly from other companies, which means they receive your IP address and browser details:

  • Product photos are loaded from Amazon’s image servers.
  • Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts.

Sharing your information

We don’t sell your personal information. We only share it with the services we need to run the site (such as our hosting provider and email provider), or where we are required to by law.

Your rights

Depending on where you live – including under UK and EU data protection law and California privacy law – you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to how it is used, and to complain to a data protection authority. To make a request, use our contact form and choose “Privacy request”. We will respond within one month.

Children

This site is intended for adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
